Crypt Hunters comes with miniatures and cards for the 4 Stormcast Eternals and 10 Chainrasps.

Once players choose their team they shuffle and draw their power decks and draw 3 cards to use in the game. The Stormcast player then places their 4 miniatures on the entrance tile and the Chainrasp shuffles the remaining tiles. It’s important to note that the Hyshian Illuminator tile is placed at the bottom of the tile deck after it’s shuffled.

Rounds are played in 5 phases:

  • Phase 1: Add tiles—Chainrasp player places these as per the placement rules.
  • Phase 2: Stormcast Eternals activate—each hero is activated and given 2 actions: move or attack – actions may repeat. Each Stormcast Eternal hero has unique values for attacking, moving, wounds, and some have special abilities.
  • Phase 3: Remove tiles—tiles are removed that Stormcast Eternals no longer have line of sight to.
  • Phase 4: Chainrasp reinforcements—Chainrasp player adds a miniature to an open pathway on a tile not containing a Stormcast Eternal. All Chainrasps have the same stats except the Dreadwarden who has a special ability.
  • Phase 5: Chainrasp activate —Chainrasp player is given three actions total to split among their miniature(s): move, drift, and attack. Drift allows multiple Chainrasps to move but to the same tile by the end of movement.

The game continues by rounds until the following winning conditions are met for each side. The Stormcast Eternal player will win when they find the winch tile, collect the winch token, and find & place a miniature on the Hyshian Illuminator tile. The Chainrasp player will win if all the Stormcast Eternals are eliminated or if the Stormcast Eternals become lost and unable to find both the winch and Hyshian Illuminator tile.
